General Motors started its journey in Indian mass segment with Chevy Spark and with Chevy Beat it has arrived! Now the company has new plans to stay firmly footed in the Indian domestic market. It recently launched a new Chevrolet Spark Lite in South Africa. The model is also expected to be India bound soon and replace the existing Chevy Spark model. Chevrolet Spark sales have declined rapidly after the recent launches in the small car segment and the company is contemplating its options to renew the model and generate customer interest in the model.
The new Chevrolet Spark Lite has a blackened lower half to give it a taller look. There are new fog lamps and lower air dam to give a tough look to the overall appearance of the car. GM’s Spark Lite has got a 796-cc 3-cylinder petrol engine that pumps 51hp and is expected to compete with Maruti Alto in the Indian small car segment. It is capable of delivering more than 20 Kmpl in city conditions.
“The Chevrolet Spark Lite which offers an excellent value proposition will serve the market with two models priced under Rand 100 000,” says SA Chevrolet Brand Manager Tim Hendon. The new Spark Lite offers buyers an excellent entry into the comprehensive Chevrolet product range.
