If anyone thought General Motors would recuperate slowly and make a slow re-entry in the world market, the company has proved each one wrong. General Motors is back and is surging ahead with leaps and bounds. Here is the new Chevrolet Aveo (Hatchback) spied in the international market that is slated for launch in 2011. The new model will compete with Ford Fiesta, Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris in the B-segment. The current model of Chevrolet Aveo available in the market is manufactured in South Korea by Daewoo. The new 2011 model will be built at the Orion, Michigan assembly plant north of Detroit.

Auto industry experts were speculating that the new upcoming model from Brazil, the new Chevrolet Viva, would replace Aveo in the international market. But clearly, GM is in parallel developing a new Aveo.

The new spy shots reveal a hatchback model that looks like it shares mechanical bits with the old Aveo. The new Aveo is expected be riding on GM's Global Gamma II chassis. It is expected to be a four-door sedan variant and a five-door hatchback. The new Aveo is expected to go on sale in January 2011.

General Motors will retain the brand name Aveo as launching, branding and positioning a new model will prove to be too costly. Thus, a revamped Aveo with completely different looks will lend much needed leverage in the Chevrolet portfolio in the western markets.
