German car maker BMW has been vigilant in keeping its sales up in the Indian market. In past few years, it has managed to capitalise on the booming Indian auto market and now it is ready with yet another SUV model, the BMW X5, for the Indian market. The 2011 BMW X5 model is enhanced with new powertrains and updated design but the cosmetic changes are only minor like a front new bumper. These changes are a result of over 4000 new parts created by BMW engineers and designers.

BMW is also readying itself to launch new X3 model in India by first or second quarter of 2011. The new BMWX X3 will be in the international market by early 2011 which will be launched with better aesthetics and interiors with improved functionalities.

However, before that the new BMW X1 assembled in India will be in the market by the end of this year. The X1 will pose as the German luxury car maker's entry-level model in India. The entry level car does not mean a compromise in quality and all interiors and cabin material will be of BMW quality. The new BMW X1 will be built on E90 3-series platform in India but with smaller dimensions. “We have new products like X1 coming into the Indian market. This product, for example, doesn't have any competitor in India. I am confident that we will gain back and retain the number one slot in the luxury car segment,” says Harald Kruger, BMW’s Head of HR Management.
