New 2015 BMW M3 sedan is finally launched in the Indian car market. The new model joins the current BMW M Series that comprises of M6 Gran Coupe, M5 sedan and M4 Coupe. Offered in petrol version only, the M3 sedan directly competes against the like of the Audi S4.
Dimensions
Dimensionally, the Audi S4 is longer than its closest rival- the new BMW M3 sedan. The S4 measures 4716mm in length, 1826mm in width and 1406mm in height. On the other hand, the M3 is 4671mm long, 1877mm wide and 1430mm high. While the S4 comes with a large wheelbase of 2811mm, the M3 sedan has slightly larger wheelbase of 2812mm.
Engine Specifications
The new BMW M3 sedan is propelled by a new 3.0-litre, six-cylinder, twin turbocharged petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing a top power output of 431bhp at 5500-7300rpm along with a top torque of 550Nm between 1850-5500rpm. Its closest rival, the Audi S4 has the 3.0-litre TFSI, V6 petrol engine with direct fuel injection and mechanical charger module. This engine is capable of producing a top power output of 328bhp a 5500rpm and a top torque of 440Nm at 2900rpm. Clearly, the BMW M3 sedan features a more powerful engine than the Audi S4.
Acceleration
The BMW M3 sedan has the powerful engine that accelerates the car to 100kmph from rest in mere 5 seconds. It remains stable at an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph, which is pretty impressive. On the other hand, the Audi S4 sprints to 100kmph from zero in mere 5.6 seconds and it has an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.
Price
The new BMW M3 sedan comes as a completely built-up unit, which makes it pricier. It is priced at Rs. 1.19 crore. On the other hand, the Audi S4 is tagged at Rs. 55.4 lakh.
