      New BMW 1-Series Spy Pictures

      Satish Kalepu

Here are the latest spy pictures of new premium hatchback model from BMW. The pictures are of fully working prototype that was captured by spy camera in Germany. Minor changes were easily visible even though the car was heavily disguised. A larger wheelbase and more room for adult passengers at the back were some of the easily visible changes. It features twin exhaust making it one of the most powerful 135i hatchback models. Till now only 135i coupe and 130i hatch have twin rear exhausts. However, both have the twin pipes on the left side of the car, not split evenly between both sides like this prototype.

The calipers appear to be smaller but it is not clear whether the brakes are bigger. There is no information about the engine as well. Engines are likely to be co-developed with PSA as the two firms further extend their relationship seen with Mini. Other features that are likely to be included are Efficient Dynamic’s technology including heat-recovery systems and solar panels.

The new model is expected to go into production by second quarter of 2011. Coupe and convertible models will go into production later that year.
