Bajaj has introduced a new bike, Platina 125 DTS-Si, in the 125cc segment in Hyderabad, India. This is the second bike from Bajaj that has been developed on the “Twin Spark – Swirl Induction” (DTS-Si) platform. “This is a part of the strategy to catalyse the migration of 100cc customers to superior performing 125cc products with 111 kmpl mileage,” said K. B. Mohanty (Sr. Manager, Bajaj Auto).
According to Amit Nandi, Bajaj Auto General Manager, Marketing, there has been an increase in customers’ inclination towards 125cc bikes. The company currently holds 40 percent market share in 125cc segment. It will also come out with two new variants of the model in next six months. It sold 80,000 motorcycles last year and has already touched the 1 lakh mark this year.
The new Platina comes with electric start, auto choke and anti-friction DU bushes in front-fork and twin pilot lamps. it is available in four colours and is priced at Rs. 39000 (ex-showroom).
The new model is currently being produced at company’s Waluj plant that will approximately produce 15000 units in September. The model will be subsequently launched in phases.
