Bajaj Auto has confirmed that it will launch the new Avenger in India sometime in Q3 FY15. Addressing to shareholders in a meeting, Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director and CEO at Bajaj Auto, said that the company is planning to launch a new Avenger bike in the third quarter of this fiscal year. The bike has received a good response in domestic market with sales growth of 9.4% to 44, 000 units for FY15. Besides launching the new Avenger, the company will replicate the success of its Pulsar brand in the commuter segment with an all-new bike.

According to reports, the new Bajaj Avenger will share resemblance with the existing model. It will feature a slender tank, lots of chrome-embellishment and a low-riding position. While the cosmetic changes will be limited, the major update will come in the form of a new engine. Powering the new Avenger will be a 199.5cc engine that also does duty to the 200NS. It churns out a maximum power of 23.52PS at 9, 500rpm and 18.3Nm of torque at 8, 000rpm.

Whereas, the existing Avenger is powered with the Pulsar 220’s 220cc engine that offers 19.03PS at 8,400rpm and 17.5Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. If reports are to be believed, the new model will get a 6-speed manual transmission. For achieving better performance, Bajaj might offer rear disc brakes on the new model. Though, there is no clarity it will get the anti-lock braking system (ABS) or not.

The new Avenger will take on the Royal Enfield Thunderbird, Yamaha Enticer, and others in the segment.
