Audi India has just launched an all-new generation of the A4. The highly improved luxury sedan has been introduced in the country with ex-showroom prices starting from Rs 38.10 lakh for the Premium Plus trim. Rather surprisingly, Audi is initially offering the A4 with just the 1.4-litre turbo petrol motor. The diesel A4, on the other hand, will come in at a later stage.
The new A4 is based on Audi’s MLB evo platform which also underpins the Q7. As a result, the former features a lot of lightweight materials in its structure. For instance, the steering and gearbox components are made of magnesium and a lot of aluminium has been used too to for the bonnet, doors and the boot lid. In all, the new A4 weighs 95kg less than before despite being 25mm longer and 16mm wider.
The biggest change in the A4 can be found inside the cabin wherein Audi has put its latest design trend to good use. The dashboard now looks futuristic thanks to all the horizontal surfacing, elegant wood finish and matt chrome bits. Feature wise, the car is loaded with features including Audi’s brilliant virtual cockpit, MMI system with a touchpad, three zone climate control, wireless charging, powered front seats, electronic parking brake, reversing camera with front and rear parking sensors, ABS, ESP and 8 airbags.
The A4 right now can be had only with a 1395cc, four-cylinder turbocharged engine that develops 148bhp and 250Nm of torque. This advanced petrol motor is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.
