At the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, Suzuki had announced that the iK-2's production version, codenamed Maruti Suzuki YRA, will get a new 1.0-litre turbocharged Boosterjet petrol engine. Before the arrival of the iK-2, the same engine will make its debut on the next-gen Suzuki Swift, claims a report. However, the company hasn’t yet revealed the engine specifications.

The Boosterjet engine, with reduced displacement, is claimed to be highly fuel efficient. With an optimized configuration and weight reducing technologies, the engine also helps save the car’s weight. The direct-injection technology further enhances its power and performance.

The Chinese-spec model of the SX4 S-Cross crossover might get a 1.4-litre turbocharged engine that will come from the same Boosterjet family. The same engine will also power the China-bound Ciaz (Alivio). Though, there is no clarity whether Maruti Suzuki will use this engine for its Indian product lineup or not.

While the YRA (iK2) premium hatchback will be first launched in the European market, it will make its way to India sometime early next year. Unlike the European-spec hybrid model, the Indian-bound YRA will be offered in petrol and diesel engine options. Expected to be based on a new platform, the YRA might feature U-shaped grille, headlights, large alloy rims, masculine side creases and wide fenders, similar to its concept.
