Even before the world’s cheapest car was launched there were critics around the world claiming that the car will further clog the already jammed Indian roads. However, the scenario remains quite dissimilar to what the world has anticipated. The world’s cheapest car has witnessed a very significant dip in its sales in November as compared to sales figures in October 2010. It sold only 509 units in November 2010 as compared to 3065 units sold in October. Even in October which was the month of the peak festive season, it had registered only marginal two percent growth in overall sales figures.

The fall in sales comes during November specifically when the automaker had announced to existing car owners to bring their models to Tata showrooms for fitting additional safety gear.

Tata Nano is expecting fierce competition from upcoming entrants in next two years which are likely to be Piaggio’s new small three-seater car, Bajaj-Renault-Nissan small car and Hyundai H800.
