Although the 2012 edition of Fluidic Elantra will arrive at the Indian shores on August 13, 2012, the car maker has already started accepting its pre-bookings. Initially, the car was introduced a decade ago but at that time, was unable to pull the masses across its stand. Therefore, the company is making a comeback in the Indian auto market with a new avatar of its Elantra, which is well revered in the global arena.

As reported exclusively to cartrade.com, the company will offer its new Hyundai Fluidic Elantra in petrol as well as diesel option, which will help the car maker in catering to the demands of a large section of society. The petrol version will hold a 1.8 litre MPFi with Dual VTVT engine, with a displacement of 1797 cc, which will have the potential to churn out a maximum power of 147.4 bhp at 6500 rpm. Peak torque attained by the powertrain stands at 177.5 Nm at 4700 rpm.

Notably, the 2012 Fluidic Elantra will be offered in both – six speed manual as well as automatic transmission system. Although the model has decent output, it will not lag on the grounds of fuel efficiency as the manual gearbox variant will run 16.3 kmpl, whereas the automatic transmission variant will consume fuel at the rate of 14.3 kmpl.

On the other hand, the diesel model will be packed with a 1.6 litre motor, which will have a displacement of 1582 cc. Equipped with CRDi technology accompanied by Variable Geometry Turbocharger; the diesel model of upcoming Hyundai Fluidic Elantra will have a compression ratio of 17.3:1. The peak power generated by the engine of this model will stand at 126.2 bhp at 4000 rpm with a maximum torque of 259.8 Nm at a fairly low 1900-2750 rpm. Similar to the petrol model, the diesel version will be also offered in both six speed manual as well as automatic gearboxes. The automatic gearbox model will offer an astounding mileage of 19.1 kmpl, whereas the manual transmission version will cover a distance of 22.7 kmpl.

Besides a strong ground of technical specifications, other USPs of the new Elantra will include its fluidic sculptural, which is bound to emerge as a trend setter for the rest of the models in the same segment. The new model from the stable of Hyundai will feature 16-inch alloy wheels, chrome indulged radiator grille and fine polished outside door handles, which will add a star to the innovative design of the upcoming model. Bringing the interiors of yet-to-be-launched model in limelight, the car will be provided with leather package, including leather inserts on gear shift knob and steering wheel. The inside door handles will be also polished in chrome, enhancing the cabin of new generation Elantra, in terms of elegance.

Although the car is not introduced in the Indian auto market, it has done fairly well in overseas market. 2012 Hyundai Elantra has won a number of international awards including the ‘2012 Car of the Year’ award in North America, South Africa, Canada and Philippines. In the same year, the car has also won the title of ‘Top Safety Pick’ two times in a row from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), USA. Owing to its competitive pricing policy, the car has also won titles like ‘Best car under $20,000’ by AOL and ‘2012 10 Best Sedan under $25,000’ from Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com. Moreover, the car was felicitated with ALG’s ‘Highest Residual Value’ for two consecutive years and in 2012 the model was also honoured as ‘Best Value in America’.

New generation Hyundai Elantra is highly-awaited by the auto aficionados of the country.
