The new Range Rover has been launched in India for a starting price of Rs Rs 1.74 crores (All-India ex-showroom). This is a mid-life update for this generation of the iconic SUV and for the first time. On the outside, both versions get a sleeker grille, matrix LED headlamps, new tail lamps and chunkier bumpers with the exhausts now integrated into them. Inside, you now get the Touch Pro Duo infotainment system and a waterproof activity key. However, the biggest change are new seats which are now wider with multiple control functions available at the touch of a button.
You get a variety of engine options ranging from a 2.0-litre turbo petrol to a 5.0-litre supercharged V8. As we have said before, this car debuts a hybrid system which, at present, is only being offered with the top-of-the-line SV Autobiography Dynamic LWB model. All models get a ZF eight-speed AT and the latest version of Land Rover’s terrain response system. Known globally for its off-roading prowess, both versions also boast of top notch approach and departure angles for high levels of off-roading capabilities.
The Range Rover range rivals the likes of the Porsche Cayenne and other super luxury SUVs like the Bentley Bentayga, Mercedes-Benz G-Class and the Mercedes-Benz GLS63 AMG.
