Hyundai has confirmed the launch of the third generation Verna in India on 22 August. The carmaker recently released teaser images of the sedan which hints at its new design.

Hyundai confirms new Verna launch on 22 August

The upcoming Hyundai Verna will be identical to the Accent unveiled in Canada and the Solaris on sale in Russia. It's based on the brand's Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. Spy shots, snapped previously in India, have also revealed that there is a single, but large grille with a cascading design. The car features projector headlamps with DRLs and split tail lights with LED detailing. The slight coupe-like sloping roofline reminds you of the new Elantra. This merges into the boot lid featuring a 'kickback' style spoiler.

We can expect the new Verna's dashboard design to be similar to the new Elantra and Tucson. The centre console shall house the latest version of Hyundai’s 7-inch AVN, which supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link. The car will surely feature a dual tone colour theme, evident from the sketch released by Hyundai.

The new Hyundai Verna is expected to retain the powertrain options. This includes a 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine options, which might be tuned for better fuel efficiency and drivability. The manual gearbox will be carried over from the existing sedan, while we might see the introduction of a new six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

As a part of the pre-launch promotions, Hyundai India recently released teaser images and videos of the sedan. Some dealerships have unofficially started accepting bookings too. We can expect the upcoming Verna to be priced at around Rs 8 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
