Top bosses at Mercedes-AMG have always been in denial when asked about the sportier sibling (S) of the regular A45, but the recent sightings confirm the brand is working towards such a model.
We noticed that the test mule in the picture has wires between the hood and cabin, sits lower than the regular A45 and sports sharper wheel arches. All these point to the unmistakeable fact that this model should serve as a top end version (S) to the regular A45, and not the next-gen car as Merc has already begun testing the next A-Class with the new body shape.
While the current Mercedes-AMG A45 makes 381bhp, it is expected that the A45 ‘S’ could get around 400bhp. With the current A45 AMG hitting 100kmph from standstill in 4.2sec, one can expect the ‘S’ to better the times and, in the process, be in a superior position to compete with the Audi RS3 saloon and the upcoming RS3 Sportback.
