      More LCVs to be launched by Nissan and Ashok Leyland

      The distinguished commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland and automobile giant Nissan JV have decided to introduce many Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) in the Indian market. Mr. V Sumantran, Chairman of Nissan Ashok Leyland Powertrain and non-executive vice-chairman of Ashok Leyland said “From here on, we will go on launching new vehicles under the LCVs category for every six months over the next few years. In the process, we want to continue to build and grow our business."

      According to him, within the commercial vehicles segment, there is constant increase in the demand of LCVs, which is almost 57 per cent. Ashok Leyland has been successful in selling more than 5,000 units of its first LCV ‘Dost’ in India, which was launched in June 2011. Loaded with a 55 hp 3 cylinder turbocharged common rail diesel engine, the LCV can deliver a decent performance. It also boasts of a 1.25 tonne payload capacity. Apart from the base version, the company provides Dost in mid-version and higher version. This LCV is also available in both BS-III and BS-IV versions.

      Dost is jointly produced by Nissan and Ashok Leyland, in which the latter has a share of 51%. After the success of Dost, the company is planning to launch its CNG variant. Two more LCVs namely Style and Partner will also be introduced by the company in the near future
