Additional details of the production-spec Tata Tigor EV have surfaced online in a certification document.
Tata Motors showcased their first fully electric vehicle, the Tigor EV, at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Indian carmaker started production of the Tigor EV at their Sanand plant in December last year and the first batch was delivered to the state-run Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL). The Tigor EV showcased at the Auto Expo was in the top-spec XZ trim. According to the leaked document, Tata will offer the EV in the XE, XM and XT trims as well. Powering the Tigor EV will be a 30kW electric motor which draws power from a 216Ah battery pack. General charging time would be six hours but can be charged up to 80 per cent in only 90 minutes with fast charging. The electric compact sedan will have a range of 130 kilometres with a top speed of 100kmph.
The five-seater sedan measure 3,992 mm in length, 1,677 mm in width and 1,537 mm in height. The wheelbase is 2,450mm and the ground clearance is 170mm. The show car from the Expo featured a shiny single strip nose grille with blue hue inserts and an EV badge. The fog lamps had blue surrounds as well as a strip of the same colour running across between the tail lights to highlight the zero-emission nature of the sedan. On the inside there was a dual tone cabin with chrome finished gear lever. The production-spec Tigor EV will retain the same credentials. The XZ spec Tigor EV will be loaded with features such as projector headlamps, 15-inch alloy wheels, electric ORVMs with turn indicators, automatic climate control and touchscreen infotainment system. On the safety front, there will be dual airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors and a parking camera.
