Renault India seems to be on a launch spree, working aggressively towards improving its sales in domestic market, the auto maker is readying to bring few new vehicles to India. After rolling out premium offering initially, the French auto giant has shifted gears to volume segment. Besides the A segment small hatchback, Renault is also working towards India-spec Lodgy MPV. The MPV is already available for sale in some of the European markets.
Similar to its European avatar, the India-bound model is also likely to get the same design. According to media reports, cabin could bear resemblance with Duster All Wheel Drive variant launched a few days ago in India. Some of the features that could be borrowed from Duster AWD include a dual shade dashboard, three-spoke wheel with audio buttons mounted on it and instrument console with chrome garnishing. If rumours are to be believed, the range topping variant could come with exquisite features such as infotainment system, climate control, AC vents for second and third row.
Power is likely to be generated through the same 1.5 litre, K9k diesel powertrain that does duty in Duster. However for Lodgy, Renualt could use the 108 BHp variant of the diesel powertrain. A six-speed manual gearbox will be matched to the engine channelizing power to the front wheels. On the price front, it is expected that the MPV could be priced between Rs 6.5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. Gaining popularity with a fast pace in India, the MPV segment has a couple of good options including the new Honda Mobilio, Maruti Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy in affordably priced seven seat MPV segment.
