Mitsubishi, the leading Japanese car maker has converted the Pajero to be a BS4 compliant vehicle. The move has been taken to pump-up the sales of the car in the Indian market. The Pajero model has been registering moderate sales figures in the Indian market due to its higher emission levels.

The engine of Pajero model now produces 108 PS power as against 118 PS of the earlier variant of the car. The reduction in power will result into the decreased emission level, making it compatible to the new BS-IV emission norms.

Besides a reduction in the power, there hasn’t been any change in the engine of the vehicle and it will come powered by the same indirect-injection engine. Though the company hasn’t announced any new price figures for the Pajero model, the car is further expected to be launched in a new avatar with a number of cosmetic upgrades at both exterior and interior front.

It is to be mentioned here that the Government of India had announced the application of the new BS-IV emission norms in the 13 major cities of the country in April 2010. The application of new emission norms made a number of car models to be discontinued in these 13 cities including iconic Maruti 800, Chevrolet Tavera, Hyundai Getz, etc.
