Mitsubishi has launched a special edition of the Pajero Sport called the Select Plus and has priced it at Rs 28.88 lakh for 4x2 automatic variant and Rs 29.09 lakh for the 4x4 manual variant (ex-showroom Delhi). As the name suggests, it is a special edition and gets cosmetic updates on the outside as well as an upgraded feature list in the cabin. This special edition is priced Rs 1.19 lakh over the equivalent standard AT and manual variant.
The Pajero Sport is a formidable but slightly dated car in terms of looks and these exterior updates do lend it a bit of youth. It is offered in four shades - red, white, yellow and silver and all of them get the updates. These come in the form of black paint for the front guard, grille, alloy wheels and wheel arches. There are LED DRLs, chrome door handles and ORVMs and finally projector headlamps. Inside, Mitsubishi has added a rear seat entertainment screen, illuminated scuff plates, cruise control and a cooler box in the boot. Standard features include climate control, touchscreen infotainment system and flexible rear seats that fold in a variety of combinations.
Powering this Select Plus edition of the Pajero Sport is a 2.5-litre diesel engine producing 175bhp/350Nm. It can be had with a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic with the former also getting the option of a full-fledged 4WD system.
The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is a participant among the D+ segment SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu MU-X and the Ford Endeavour and among these, it is the one most behind in terms of updates. This special edition should bring it back among the competition and give it a chance at making some numbers which in the case of the Mitsubishi will be from various pockets across the country where the brand currently has a major fan following.
