Mitsubishi India has taken covers off the automatic variant of new Pajero Sport. For the Indian market, the AT version has been priced at Rs 23.55 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new Parjero Sport AT is being offered in two wheel drive layout. On the other hand, the 4X4 manual variant of the SUV sporting minor changes is priced at Rs 23.80 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The revamped Pajero Sport and the AT variant will continue to be assembled locally at the Tiruvallur facility located in Tamil Nadu. Prominent changes have been made to the frontfaçadeof the SUV that now features newly designed chrome grille and a revised bumperequipped with new fog-light enclosures rendering it a refreshed look.
Besides this, Mitsubishi has not made any other major tweak to the vehicle. Interiors too have been retained, while the company has removed two colour shades available in the outgoing variant. Power will be supplied through the same 2.5 litre, 16-valve, intercooled, turbocharged DOHC engine. The robust powertrain yields maximum power output of 178 PS at 4000 RPM along with peak torque of 400Nm between 2000 to 2500 RPM.
Power is transmitted to the wheels through a five-speed automatic gearbox in AT variant while manual version gets the conventional five-speed manual transmission. MT version of the SUV is claimed to deliver 12.1 kmpl of fuel economy, on the other hand AT version is vouched to return,
The SUV will fight it out with contenders like Santa Fe, Ssangyong Rexton, Toyota Fortuner, Chevrolet Captiva in its segment.
