Mitsubishi has launched the third generation Outlander in India for a price of Rs 31.84 lakhs (ex-showroom, all India). The vehicle has been on sale in the international market since 2015. Limited to a petrol engine option it competes against the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the recently launched Skoda Kodiaq in India.
Mechanically, the new Mitsubishi Outlander is powered by a 2.4-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that generates 164bhp of power and 222Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a six-speed CVT automatic which powers all four wheels. Limited to a single top-spec variant it comes loaded with features such as leather upholstery, electrically powered seat with heating and height adjustment, seatbelt pre-tensioners, ISOFIX, and sunroof. The SUV also gets a 6.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control and a 710-watt Rockford Fosgate sound system.
Based on the new “Dynamic Shield” design philosophy, the vehicle appears sharper and more aerodynamic than its predecessor. The revised headlights feature a full-LED setup with LED DRLs. In terms of safety, it gets seven airbags as standard with ABS and EBD, active stability control (ASC), hill start assist (HSA).
