Mitsubishi has been announcing the launch of new Lancer Evo X since a long time. Earlier the model was slated for a launch in May 2010 which has now been postponed to June 2010. Mitsubishi will be launching the car as a completely built unit making it pricier for the Indian audience. The expected price of the model is Rs. 40 lakh and will be powered by 2.0L turbo-charged engine delivering 300 bhp that clocks 0-100 kmph in five seconds.
“Evo X has been in the minds of the Indian consumer for a long time now. It is a fantasy sports car that has caught the fancy of speed enthusiasts in movies like the Fast & Furious where it featured. We are not looking at huge numbers. We plan to sell around 50-75 cars in India per year. It is a car that boosts the brand equity of Mitsubishi in India. It has the rally DNA that outlines Mitsubishi cars in the country,” Pritam Saikia, marketing head of HM-Mitsubishi Motors said.
The model has already completed the homologation process as per the ARAI norms. Mitsubishi sells its models in India with Hindustan Motors. The company still needs to wake up from its slumber to create a furor in the market with its models. The new Lancer Evo X is good news for Mitsubishi lovers.
