Mitsubishi has revealed its new Ground Tourer PHEV concept car (Plugin Hybrid Electric Vehicle) ahead of its official debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. It was teased earlier through a single image and indicated the direction that Mitsubishi will move in with its vehicle range in the future.

The Ground Tourer embodies all the traits of the new Mitsubishi design philosophy like the raked grille and windscreen, wedge shaped headlamps and a row of vertically stacked lamps. The side, while being modern thanks to its various cuts and creases, does embody the lines of Pajero Sport as well as the Outlander. The rear is dominated by a light bar and massive boot lid. There are currently no photos of the cabin but we believe it will be standard Mitsubishi fare and is expected to include touchscreens, climate control and leather seating. We do, however, know that the cabin has been trimmed out in a shade of burgundy with a vertical layout.

Powering this Ground Tourer is a combination of three electric motors as well as a smaller petrol engine. It has an all-electric range of 120km and a total of 1200km once the petrol motor starts doing its thing. When this vehicle goes into production, it is expected to replace the likes of the ASX crossover. It will compete with the Renault Captur and the Nissan Qashqai. Here in it will be a D-segment competitor.
