MINI has revealed their all-new Electric Concept before its Frankfurt debut. Arriving almost a decade after the Mini E, the Electric concept is all set to hit the market in late 2019 as a MY2020 car.

The Mini E was a regular Mini Cooper converted into an electric car as a futuristic exercise for select customers. Owing to the added battery pack and motors, the rear seats had to go away. The Mini Electric concept has been built ground-up by BMW with parallels from the BMW i3. It is a proper four seater with the batteries getting shelved on the floor and the motors tucked away under the all-new bodywork. Not that we would want any adults to try those!

The concept gives us an insight to what the future Minis could look like with the slightly squared lines that blend with the classic Mini fascia. The LED headlamps and tail lamps make it futuristic while the yellow highlights on the hood and the four-spoke alloy wheels hark back to the past. Yes, the John Mini Cooper Works GP car from the bygone era had the same yellow highlights in its racing livery.

Since the Mini shares its roots with the i3, it might use the same 150bhp powertrain that is capable of a 240kms on a full charge. The production car might have toned down fenders and bumpers but the essence of design will be carried through.
