The popular small car brand MINI Cooper has unveiled their fastest ever production version - Mini John Cooper Works GP – at the ongoing Mini United festival in France. The company will launch this car as a limited edition version of the second-generation hatchback of their parent BMW’s hatchback.
As per the reports, the new fastest Mini, the Mini John Cooper Works GP took just 8min 23sec at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, during the development phase. Earlier, the Mini Cooper S with John Cooper Works GP Kit had bagged the title of the fastest Mini model by lapping the grueling German circuit in 8m 41s, about 18 seconds slower as compared to latest Mini John Cooper Works GP.
While speaking on the development of the new Mini John Cooper Works GP, Mr. Jorg Weidinger, head of chassis and suspension development, said, “This is a track car, but it is also developed for everyday use. It is not a car you put on a trailer to take to the race track; you drive it there.”
As far as engine system is concerned, the new Mini John Cooper Works GP is expected to be delivering a peak power of 220-230bhp, slightly higher as compared to the 210 bhp of its fastest predecessor. Moreover, the car will come incorporated with an adjustable race suspension, competition-spec braking system and a race tuned suspension.
