The MINI Cooper S Convertible was recently launched in India for Rs 34.9 lakh (Ex-showroom, India). The vehicle is currently the only premium convertible hatchback in India. The Mini Cooper Convertible S gets a 2.0 litre, twin turbocharged petrol engine that is mated to a 6-speed torque converter gearbox to generate 189bhp of power and 280Nm of torque. The convertible gets three drive modes – Green, Mid and Sport that allow you to drive as per your needs/moods. The vehicle is capable of attaining a top speed of 233 kmph and does a 0-100 dash in just about 7.1 seconds. To ensure a safe drive, the vehicle comes with front two airbags, roll over protection and ESP traction control.
On the design aspect, the Convertible does not fail to carry forward the Mini legacy with circular headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lights, low sleek airdams, alloys and vent on the hood. The soft top folds down in just about 18 seconds and fits in neatly in the boot space. Based on a new platform, the Mini Cooper Convertible S offers more space than the previous model. The vehicle gets a larger boot space of 215-litres and the knee room for rear occupants has been increased by 36mm.
Speaking of interiors, the Mini Cooper S comes loaded with circular-shaped Harman Kardon infotainment system with navigation support, leather upholstery, ambient lighting and a detailed instrument cluster.
