Mini has launched the next generation Cooper Convertible in India for a price tag starting at Rs 34.90 lakh (ex-showroom India). The soft-top convertible is based on an all-new platform and comes with a new range of drivetrains. With the new UKL platform, the Convertible has grown in size and is identical to the hardtop three-door version launched last year. It is much bigger than its predecessor in every dimension including wheelbase offering some more space in the cabin and also in the boot. The retractable top itself can be folded in just 18 seconds and occupies part of the bootwhen folded.
Insides are similar to rest of the Mini range as well with the circular theme and toggle switches. Under the hood, the Convertible gets the new three-cylinder 2-litre, 4-cylinder engine featuring BMW’s TwinPower turbo technology. The powerful engine is capable of generating about 189bhp of power and 280Nm of torque. The vehicle is capable of doing a 0-100kmph in 7.1 seconds and achieve a top speed of 233kmph.
The MINI Convertible gets features like the LED DRLs, Harman Kardon music system, ambient lighting, leather upholstery, detailed instrument cluster and a comprehensive electronic safety net. The Mini Convertible is imported to India as a CBU and is sold alongside the next generation standard hardtop and S variants.
