Mini, the British automotive brand owned by German premium car maker BMW, will be publicly unveiling the production version of its first ever commercial vehicle MINI Clubvan at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Mini Clubvan, which marked its premiere at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show is highly based on the sub compact car, Mini Clubman and draws inspiration from the commercial vehicle, Morris Mini van of 1960s.
The design dynamics of the van proves the level of sophistication and practicality in terms of cargo space rendering the Mini Clubvan as the world’s first premium compact van comprising of five doors and only two seats.
The most appealing attribute of the Clubvan is its spacious load bay, which can be comfortably accessed with the mid split rear doors and the storage space extends from huge internal bulkhead behind the two seats on the front to the split rear doors. The rear load bay is furnished with multiple 12 Volt sockets for charging electrical devices with six heavy duty attachment loops for fastening the luggage. The Clubvan has a storage capacity of 860 litres and a top payload capacity of 500 kg.
Mini will be rolling out the this new Mini sibling in three 1.6L four-cylinder engines that outpours 97 bhp (petrol) for the One, 120 bhp (petrol) for the Cooper and 110 bhp (diesel) for the Cooper D. Offered with six-speed manual transmission gearbox as a standard option, the Cooper D will come with a six-speed automatic transmission option as well.
Mini Clubvan is incorporated with high quality materials, tinted rear windows along with standard features such as a DAB radio, electric windows, air conditioner and multiple airbags.
