Honda is a brand on a roll in the Indian car market as it is one of the few companies that have enjoyed success in the festive season. Sales of Amaze compact sedan have helped the brand to achieve good figures despite challenging conditions. After redefining itself as a brand that can cater to the masses, Honda is planning to further cement its position in India. One car that is likely to propel the Japanese car maker is the next generation Honda City, which, according to reports, is going to be launched in coming months. Expectations have started building up among analysts and fans, who have appreciated this model since its first generation version was launched. Sources close to this development have claimed that Honda, for the first time, is going to introduce a diesel version of City. This, probably, is the base for all the hype that has been generated as it could possibly be a game changer in the sedan segment due to high fuel economy.

There is no denying the success of petrol version of Honda City, which has been appreciated for its fuel-efficiency, appearance and driveability. However, the rising prices of petrol have increased reluctance of buyers in the country, thereby compelling brands to introduce diesel models. Honda, on its part, has enjoyed great success after launching Amaze, the brand's first diesel car. Critics, not only in India but worldwide, have praised Honda for the Earth Dreams diesel technology. It is being said that Honda City diesel, when launched in India, will be fitted with the same i-DTEC engine that powers Amaze. However, some tuning is going to be done on the engine to increase its output level. Analysts have said that considering how well this model has done with a petrol version, its sales would rise exponentially when diesel variant is out.

If one takes a closer look, reasons for the predicted high sales figures of Honda City diesel can be seen. In the first place, diesel models are extremely viable in India because they render a higher fuel-economy, a factor that attracts innumerable buyers. Secondly, reviews received by the i-DTEC engine makes this new model a deadly combination of of popularity and quality. In addition, this sedan has been loved by people in India, as a result of which Honda City has withstood the test of time with just one engine option. Thereby, it is only logical that buyers in India would rush to showrooms to purchase the same sedan with a much better fuel-economy.

To put things in a nutshell, the stage is set for Honda City diesel to enter Indian car market. And if sources, reports and expert opinions are to be believed then this model is going to give all its rivals a run for their money. When launched in India, new Honda City diesel will compete with Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid.
