Mercedes-Benz, the Germany based leading luxury car maker, is gearing-up to celebrate its 125th anniversary on 29th January, 2011. The car maker is speculated to unveil a brand new design concept, in a bid to make the occasion memorable. The new car would borrow many of its designing cues from the F800 concept that was first showcased at the 2010 Detroit Motor Show.

As per industry sources, the newly designed concept won’t be christened as 'F900' but will carry a traditional name instead. The date of 29th January carries great significance for the company as exactly 125 years ago, Karl Benz was given a patent for his Motorwagen.

Meanwhile, the company has already commenced the celebration of its 125th anniversary and a preview of that was seen at the recent Detroit Auto show where the German auto giant had showcased its alternatively fuelled cars. The company’s concept car was speculated to be a vehicle that can be “powered by petrol, diesel, natural gas, hydrogen and electricity.”

Moreover, the company could also reveal the details of its new platform, Mercedes Front-drive Architecture (MFA), underpinning a new family of A- and B-class cars which are expected to be previewed in the Geneva Motor show in March.
