      Mercedes to launch Maybach S 600 Guard in India on March 8

      The armoured version of the Maybach S 600 will be launched in India on March 8. It will be the most premium model of the Mercedes Guard division for India, positioned above the standard S 600 Guard.

      Part of the extended S-Class range, the Maybach has 20cm longer wheelbase, which translates to more cabin space for the passengers. This model uses the 6.0-litre V12 engine powering the rear wheels with the 7G-tronic transmission. With all the reinforcements for extra safety, the Maybach S 600 Guard is a heavy car, weighing close to 4.7 tonnes. It can still manage to do electronically restricted 210kmph, with power rating of 530bhp and 830Nm.

      The passenger cell has been additional strengthened to provide extra safety. The car has VR9 level ratings against ballistic and other explosives – highest rating awarded to the passenger cars. Among other safety features, the Maybach Guard has explosion resistant petrol tank, emergency exit door, PAX runflat tyres, firefighting system and various means of communicating with outside world.

      The Maybach S 600 Guard will be one of the most expensive armoured passenger vehicles in the country with the price tag of close to Rs 10 crore. The car will be imported to India as a CBU on order.
