Mercedes is geared up to launch the 2012 M Class in India. The expected launch date of the much awaited Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) is 15th May. Displayed at the Auto Expo 2012 in Delhi, the car gained huge appreciations from the audience. It was also spotted during several test runs near Pune.

The car will be imported in country as CBU model and may feature a more affordable 2.2L diesel variant too in its series. Mercedes has decided to import the car instead of manufacturing it locally during the period when excise duty has been increased by 2% after the recent union budget.

New Mercedes Benz M Class will be bulkier, more stylish, eco friendly and better treader. Mercedes Benz SUVs enjoy good reputation for their off-roading capabilities like the sedans and saloons, which are known for their luxury. However, when a mix of both the luxury and off roading capability of an off-roader is concerned, not many can match the M Class from Mercedes.

The details regarding the specs and price of the car is yet unknown and will be disclosed once it is launched. As per reports, the new model has an edge over its predecessor in terms of length and width. It is possible to control the ride height electronically. A button is also provided to raise the suspension system for off-roading.

In order to increase the level of comfort and safety, the interiors have been made even more refined with the usage of advanced technology. A 3 litre V6 diesel powertrain delivering a power output of 256 bhp and torque of 620 Nm will be equipped in this latest SUV. The new model will deliver top speed of 224 kmph and can reach 100 kmph in just 7.4 seconds from stand still.

Those who think that the existing MDL range is a good off roader, the next generation ML 350 CDI raise the bar with its superb on and off road package. It will also come with 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive system along with steel suspension on the chassis, which features selective damping.

Mercedes Benz M-Class has a huge package of interior gadgetry, entertainment options and upgrades. However the company cleared the fact that the first model from this range to be launched in India will be the new ML 350 CDI BlueTEC.
