The Mercedes E-Class Long Wheelbase has been shown at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show. This is the stretched version of the E-Class meant to offer more space and comfort for the rear seat occupants.

Mercedes-Benz has elongated the fifth generation of the W213 E-Class to an overall length of 5,063mm. It is 140mm longer than the regular sedan and gets a wheelbase of 3,079mm. The carmaker has added a triangular window in the C-pillars apart from extending the car's rear doors and roofline.

The extension of the overall length and wheelbase has liberated oodles of space inside the cabin. To be precise, 134mm of legroom for the rear passengers with seats pushed back for better ingress and egress. The rear seat can also be replaced by optional two individual seats with a centre console equipped with temperature control-featuring cup holders.

Folding rear arm-rests and a touchscreen to control COMAND infotainment system come as a standard fitment. Apart from this, Mercedes is offering 64 colour options for the LED and interior ambient lighting. Safety features include active city braking, attention assist and remote parking via a smartphone.

Beijing Benz Automotive Co, a joint venture between Daimler and BAIC, have produced this Mercedes E-Class Long Wheelbase exclusively for China. If reports are to be believed, this stretched model might make it to Indian market as well, but sometime next year.
