Mercedes is all set to launch the CLA model on the 22nd of January. As most other variants, the cars will make a debut in the country through the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route. However, after the month April 2015, Mercedes plans to assemble their premier compact sedan at their Chakan plant. This will ensure that the prices, which are yet to be announced, will be slightly reduced. Currently, only one trim variant has been launched for this model. However, once the CKD takes full effect, it is expected that more trim variants of the CLA model will be launched.

The CLA model is expected to hit the markets with dual engine options – petrol in the form of a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder mill, which can deliver 184 PS of power and a torque output of 300 Nm. On the other hand, the 2143 cc turbo diesel mill is capable of producing a power of 136 bhp at the rate of 3600 to 4200 rpm. The torque output of the car is rated at 300 Nm within the range of 1600 to 3000 rpm. Both the mill are connected to the mills using a 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission with ECO, Sport and Manual modes, which will allow users to select according to their preferences. Undoubtedly, the compact sedan is expected to play a crucial role in boosting the sales of the company in India soon after its launch.
