In the international markets, the V-Class has been around for three generations since 1996. The third and current generation was introduced in 2014, and this is the first time that the V-Class will be officially sold by the German carmaker in India. It will be sold in both seven and eight seat options and will be initially sold to personal car buyers. The spacious cabin and opulent luxury are USP of the V-Class and Mercedes-Benz India will keep this in mind when introducing it to the Indian car market. Mostly, it would be brought in as a second car in a luxury household that already owns a Three-Pointed Star. Following that, Mercedes will also sell the V-Class to fleet operators once the speed governs are installed.

The V-Class that will arrive in India will be offered with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine mated to seven-speed automatic transmission. This engine is BS-VI compliant and it also powers the E-Class All-Terrain. The output is expected to be around 190bhp and 400Nm. When it goes on sale in January, the V-Class will carve out a niche segment for itself with no direct competition. Prices are expected to be around Rs 75-85 lakhs (ex-showroom).
