Mercedes Benz, the Germany based leading luxury car maker, is planning to roll-out smaller luxury cars in the Indian market. The prospective smaller luxury cars including the A and B Class of cars will be significanlty cheaper as compared to the current range of Mercedes cars and are expected to be shelved in the segment of Rs 18 to Rs 20 lakh.

Speaking to the reporters in New Delhi on Monday, Mercedes Benz India MD & CEO Peter T Honegg said, "We are talking to our German office to bring in smaller cars in the A- and B-Class range that may have a great market potential in India."

The Mercedes Benz A-Class is basically a mini multi-purpose car, which is expected to be the entry level car of the company in the Indian market. On the other hand, the small family car – B Class – will be priced a bit higher than the A-class model.

The company will showcase the concept of A-Class car along with B Class model and an upcoming SUV at the Delhi Auto Expo in January 2012. Mr. Honegg said in a statement given to ET that the new B Class is a further development of the existing model while the new A Class will come on road by 2013-14.
