Mercedes Benz is gearing up to officially roll out the B Class Sports Tourer hatchback in the domestic market by the end of 2012. This launch will be in response to the unveiling of competing models by the two other prominent German car makers operating in India, namely Audi and BMW. While BMW has already launched X1, Audi's Q3 crossover looks set to hit Indian roads in the second quarter of 2012. When launched, the upcoming B Class Sports Tourer will give stiff competition to both these models in the local market.

Reportedly, the Mercedes Benz B Class Sports Tourer will be available for sale in the domestic market at a price of Rs. 25 lacs by the time 2012 ends. However, the exact price of the model will be known only at the time of the official unveiling. The German luxury car maker will also launch the 2014 Mercedes Benz GLC crossover in the next couple of years in the country in a bid to improve its market share in the local market. These models will exist alongside each other, though they will appeal to different target audiences.

In any case, the buzz is around the B Class Sports Tourer presently as the GLC Crossover model will be launched after quite some time. It is anticipated that the upcoming hatchback by Mercedes Benz will possess all the features that the German automotive giant is known for. The car maker plans to present one model each for all segments of the Indian luxury car market and will bring out more cars for the domestic buyers. Such initiatives will help Mercedes Benz create a unique position for itself in the country
