Mercedes-Benz to develop six electric vehicles in the coming years

Reports claim that Mercedes-Benz is currently working towards launching at least six electric vehicles between the years 2018 and 2024.

There’s a clear intention to provide stiff competition to Tesla and the zero-emission vehicles from the VW group, while also shape up the brand’s plans for their electric cars of the future. In reality, MB may be actually be developing close to nine models in a bid to achieve their ambitious goal.

Sources also reveal that Mercedes-Benz is developing a plug-in hybrid SUV that uses an electric motor powered by fuel cells, and works closely with a combustion engine. As things stand today, there’s no confirmation if this car is actually the GLC F-CELL (above), which was revealed earlier and should make it to production in 2017. This prototype is claimed to have a 48km range on only electricity, and a total range of 500km (hydrogen and petrol).

At the upcoming Paris Motor Show, MB is slated to unveil their concept electric vehicle, and their plans for the EV line-up which will be named ‘MEQ’. They will reportedly carry the ‘EQ’ prefix in their badges like ‘EQA’ and ‘EQB’, to name a few.

We shall give you more information on this when the Paris Motor Show gets rolling next month.
