      Mercedes-Benz S500 to be launched today

      Mercedes-Benz, the well appreciated German luxury car maker, is all set to launch the new S-Class in National Capital today. It is being speculated that only S500 variant will be offered initially, which will be then followed by S350. Sources close to the process have revealed that S500 will be priced close to Rs. 1.3 crore. Industry experts believe that the new S-Class will be far more technological advance than its previous generation model. The 2014 S-Class was showcased in May 2013 and will be now imported from Germany as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).

      The new model of S-Class has witnessed some significant changes, which are expected to entice the Indian auto aficionados. The front fascia will feature LED head lamps, redesigned grille, new bumpers and LED fog lamps. At the side profile, new S-Class has got aerodynamic body lines, which are termed as 'swooping roof' by the German car company. At interiors, the instrument cluster is fitted with two large colour displays, accompanied with a two-spoke steering wheel. It must be noted that Mercedes-Benz has never compromised on the feature-chart of S-Class and therefore, the upcoming sedan will come equipped with a number of advancements, which will leave Indian audience mesmerised. Key highlights of the same are LED ambient lights, high quality music system, heated rear seats and a specialised air balance package.

      Coming to its technical specifications, the upcoming S500 will come equipped with a 4.7-litre bi-turbo V8 engine, which will have the potential to churn out a maximum power of 460 bhp with 700 Nm of peak torque. Adding to the performance of this engine is a 7G-Tronic plus gearbox. With this engine configuration, the new S500 can clock speed of up to 255 kmph. Although it has a brilliant power output, the new S-Class does not lags behind in terms of fuel economy. The company officials have hinted that the next generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class will consume at least 20 per cent less fuel against its previous generation model. Source have revealed that the S350 CDi, which is expected to be launched by 2014-end, will boasts of a 3.6-litre diesel engine and will be priced somewhere close to Rs. 95 lakh.
