The past year has been excellent for German car maker Mercedes-Benz as far as the Indian market is concerned. Despite challenging conditions and economic crisis, the Daimler-owned firm has done remarkably well to register good sales figures. It has managed to gain the ground lost to the fellow German firms BMW and Audi, which have been top performers in the luxury car segment. The brand with the three-pointed star launched several models in 2013, which included the likes of E-Class, B-Class, A-Class and E63 AMG. Surprisingly, challenging market conditions have not perturbed customers of Mercedes-Benz as the firm is facing overflowing demand of high-end vehicles. Due to the excess demand, the German entity has decided to launch next generation version of S-Class on the 8th of January, sources have claimed.

Earlier, new S-Class (W222 variant) was set to make it debut at the upcoming Auto Expo 2014, scheduled to be held in Greater Noida. However, due to increase in demand, Mercedes-Benz has been forced to launch this car a month before the Auto Expo. Experts feel that this is a good starting sign for the firm as far as 2014 is concerned. While other car makers are struggling to make ends meet, this company has already received bookings for its flagship sedan. These facts verify the point made months back by an official from Rolls-Royce, who said that the demand for such high-end cars is inelastic and rarely affected by market conditions.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class model is known throughout the globe for being a top-class vehicle with state-of-the-art technologies. In fact, many experts consider it to be a complete package that is class, style, performance and technology personified. Featuring a three-dimensional radiator grille, new S-Class has a long bonnet and its body structure is highly efficient in terms of aerodynamics. Innovation and technology have always been highlights of Mercedes-Benz cars and S-Class is no different. This model will feature Hill Start Assist, tyre pressure loss warning system, anti-theft alarm system and continuously variable door hold system.

Reportedly, Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222) is going to be available in two variants, namely S500 and S350 CDI. The former will be fitted with an extremely powerful twin turbocharged V8 4.7-litre engine, which is expected to generate an output of around 430 bhp and peak torque of 700 Nm. This variant is going to be brought to India through Completely Built Unit (CBU) route, which is likely to affect its price. According to sources, new Mercedes-Benz S-Class, S500, will be launched at an ex-showroom (Mumbai) price of around Rs. 1.4 crore.

The German car maker, sources claim, is not going to stop its product introduction spree at the new S-Class. After launching the new S-Class, Mercedes-Benz is likely to showcase GLA and CLA models at Auto Expo 2014. Considering reports and facts that have come up in the recent past, it is only logical that Mercedes-Benz S-Class will perform well in India. The Stuttgart based firm has gained tremendous momentum in 2013, which it rightly labelled as the 'Year of Offensive'. And the company, in all likelihood, is going to be relentless in its aggressive approach.
