Mercedes-Benz will launch the S-Class S400 luxury sedan for the Indian market tomorrow. A mid-level version of the S-Class sedan, it was first launched as a China only model (long wheelbase) before being offered in other markets.

Firstly, the S400 is offered with a 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo petrol engine that produces 330bhp and 480Nm of torque. Globally the car is offered with the 7G-Tronic gearbox and it is expected that the S400 will get the same here too.

The S400 offers similar levels of equipment as the S350 d. This includes the air balance package, chauffeur package, seat memory function, specialised interior trim and of course those amazing 16-way seat massagers for all four passengers.

The addition of the S400 will now expand total number of S-Class variants offered in India to ten. This current lineup includes the two standard models, two Maybach variants, two coupes and two S-Guard armoured vehicles. They will be joined later this year by the S-Class cabriolet that was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo.

We expect that the Mercedes-Benz S-Class S400 will be priced around Rs 1.20 crore slotting it between the S350d and S500 variants.
