Mercedes has started 2017 with a twin bang. Night Editions of the Mercedes A-Class and B-Class hatchbacks have been launched at price tags of Rs 27.31 lakh and Rs 29.24 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune) respectively. The Night package has the exterior features done in black and is limited to 100 units each for the Indian market.
Design-wise, the changes are subtle. The diamond grille in the front of the A-Class now gets a black louvre with chrome inserts while the rear bumper gets a twin exhaust look like all the new generation Mercedes cars. Both the cars gets a new design of 17 inch five-spoke alloys. Both the cars get black wing mirrors.
On the inside, the cabin gets an 8 inch media display for the infotainment system which has Android Auto and Apple Car Play built in. Under the hood you have the same 1.6-litre petrol engine that develops 122bhp of power and 200Nm of torque and the 2.2-litre 136bhp diesel units that develops 300Nm of torque. Both the engines are mated to a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission that powers the front wheels. You get three driving modes – Eco, Comfort and Sport with engine-start stop technology as standard.
The Mercedes A180 costs Rs 27.31 lakh and the A200d costs Rs 28.32 lakh respectively, ex-showroom, Pune. The B180 petrol is priced at Rs 29.34 lakh while the B200d gets a price tag of Rs 30.35 lakh.
