Mercedes-Benz in Thailand has introduced three convertibles, the SLC, SL and the top-end S-Class Cabriolet. MB’s S-Class Cabriolet is a four-seater with a classic style soft-top. It will be offered as the S500, which is equipped with a 5.5-litre 455bhp twin-turbo V8 engine and priced at 16.29 million baht (Rs 3.15 crore).

This is followed by Merc’s two-seater with a folding hard top called the SL. This car carries on with the earlier name but is now available to Thai customers in the SL400 iteration. The SL400 uses a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine that makes 367bhp and costs 9.49 million baht (Rs 1.83 crore).

With the SLC, what Mercedes-Benz actually sells is a rebadged facelifted SLK roadster. This Merc, with a folding hard top, has a redesigned exterior and comes with two new engines both of which are mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox. The SLC300, with its 2.0-litre 245bhp petrol engine, is priced at 3.99 million baht (Rs 77.32 lakh), and the SLC43 AMG version costs 4.99 million baht (Rs 96.70 lakh). With a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol motor, the SLC43 AMG produces 367bhp and promises to be a handful.
