Mercedes-Benz has launched the E220d in India at a price tag of Rs 57.14 lakh (ex-showroom Pune). This variant joins the E-Class line-up that presently consists of the E200 (petrol) and E350d (diesel). Powering the new E220d is a 2.0-litre in-line four-cylinder diesel engine that’s linked to a 9G-TRONIC transmission, and is capable of producing 194bhp and 400Nm of torque.
Mercedes-Benz expects the E220d to cater to those customers who do long to buy a diesel version of the new E-Class which offers best in class legroom thanks to its extended wheelbase
As for the equipment list, the E220d will be offered on the same lines as the E200. So, one can expect features such as memory function for rear seats, a regular suspension, an illuminated rear door sill, reverse camera, the standard music system and five-spoke alloys. In stark comparison, the E350d gets memory function for both front and rear seats, air suspension, illuminated front and rear door sills, 360-degree camera, a Burmester surround sound system with nine-channel digital signal processor amplifier, and 10-spoke alloys.
