Auto bigwig Mercedes-Benz, continuing their tradition of achieving breakthroughs, has decided to introduce an all new traffic alert system for the Indian auto market. The German luxury car maker is known throughout the globe for investing heavily in the field of research and development in order to introduce technologies and systems that make driving much safer, easier and more enjoyable. This integrated system, called My Mercedes', would be based on a technology that will facilitate communication between two cars.

According to a top official of Mercedes-Benz, it will also be able to establish a link between the driver and manufacturer. On a visit to Hyderabad, Eberhard H Kern, the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Mercedes Benz India said that the company aims at introducing multiple modes of communication in coming times. He said that the Research and Development Centre in Bangalore will have a huge role to play in the development of the technology. Praising the R&D Centre of Bangalore, Kern said that this centre has over 1200 developers and can be termed as the biggest development of Mercedes-Benz outside Germany.

Aimed at enhancing the safety, this system will involve the car being fitted with Car-to-X communication, which will be capable of transmitting information about dangers to other road users. Passenger cars from Mercedes-Benz are equipped with the capability of detecting a major percentage of these dangers automatically, without the driver being required to take any action.

The Mercedes Cloud, on the press of a button, will notify the driver in case there are any immobile vehicles or animals on the road. Subsequently, a message with a warning will be sent to all vehicles fitted with the Car-to-X technology and are in close proximity to the dangerous location. This technology could be a stepping stone for further developments, which would not only make driving easier but also ensure automatic improvement in the traffic conditions. Although, there is no specific date on which this technology will be launched, the auto maker is hoping to introduce it in the near future.
