Mercedes-Benz has imported a GLE400 SUV for homologation purposes. This is a petrol version of the German automaker’s mid-size SUV and when launched will be the first time a petrol model is being offered in a non-AMG petrol guise since the ML-Class was launched here around five years ago.

The GLE400 is powered 3.0-litre V6 petrol mill producing 333bhp and 480Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four-wheels via a nine-speed AT and the German automaker’s 4MATIC AWD system.

We believe that Mercedes-Benz will offer this car with an AMG body kit which is expected to include sporty bumpers, side skirts and large AMG-spec wheels. The cabin is expected to get AMG seats, steering wheel and accessories like ambient lighting as well as door-sil plates.

This model is expected to slot in between regular GLE lineup (GLE 250d and 350d) and the GLE450 AMG coupe where it will offer the looks of an AMG but still be quite affordable.
