Mercedes-Benz has not taken the wraps off the GLC coupe yet and is still testing it. It was recently spotted on test showing off some more skin this time.

Till now, the car was spied in a disguised avatar and now that the car might make it to the production line, it has slowly started to shed its camouflage. The GLC coupe is based on the GLC Crossover, designed with a target audience in mind who want the style of a coupe, but a raised ride height, a bigger boot and the four-wheel-drive system from the larger SUVs. Similar to the concept shown at the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show, the new GLC coupe will be underpinned by the four-wheel drive architecture and an optional air suspension.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe is expected to be offered in a wide range of four-cylinder turbo diesel and petrol engines. This might include a 241bhp 2.0-litre petrol mill that comes mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox. Then, there might be a 3.0-litre V6 bi-turbo unit powering the GLC 450 AMG Coupe. This line-up might also be joined by a plug-in hybrid variant.

The fastback, coupe-inspired GLC coupe looks sporty due to its sloping roofline. This swoopy bodystyle differentiates the coupe from the regular GLC crossover. However, this raked out roof will also mean less headroom for the rear occupants. Nevertheless, the interior will be similar to the GLC sibling and come equipped with similar equipment and features.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC might make its global debut this year and will go up against the BMW X4 in the international market. Mercedes-Benz India is on a roll and might also launch this new car for the Indian market sometime in 2017.
