Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled its crossover model called GLA45 AMG. Wearing the AMG moniker, this car is expected to be a heavy power punch on roads. This crossover will be placed at the top of GLA line-up and will be showcased at Detroit Motor Show this year. Prior to its launch, the German auto major has just given glimpse of what this car is capable of and the figures seem pretty impressive. Not much has been divulged by the company except for certain facts that surround the built and engine performance of this new crossover.
With an AMG badge, Mercedes-Benz GLA45 exhibits dynamic styling and refreshing looks. As compared with the overall GLA-Class, the new car flaunts revised bumpers, upgraded fenders, enlarged alloy wheels and trapezoidal exhaust pipes at rear. Chassis is made much more nimble with the usage of carbon fibre. Brake calipers have been painted red to provide a sporty look to this car and high performance braking system has been employed by AMG. Also, the suspensions are stiffened to make the crossover traverse on uneven turfs smoothly. The car looks much more sturdy and is equally agile on tracks.
At interiors, bespoke touches have been made by AMG that comprise finely stitched leather upholstery, multi-functioning steering with tilt column and AMG instrument cluster. Black seems to be the primary choice of Mercedes-Benz, which is uniquely blended with fine stripes of red threads. The main touchscreen panel assists navigation, climate controls and infotainment system consoles. All in all, the car has been provided a sporty attire with a luxury angle at the same time. The performance oriented 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine has been equipped within this model, which has been sourced from A45 and CLA45 models. This engine churns out 360 bhp of peak power with torque of up to 450 Nm. Coupled with a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT transmission, this crossover attains 0-100 kmph in just 4.8 seconds, further clocking an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph.
Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class is expected to arrive in Indian auto market by mid-2014. Domestic buyers might just witness the inception of GLA45 AMG off late, which will be the crown in the line-up. Sources are speculating that after its arrival, this crossover is expected to face Porsche Macan as its fierce adversary. It is not an astounding fact as the German duo has been in an automotive battle since ages now and global markets are solid spectators of this rivalry.
