      Mercedes Benz GLA Class launching tomorrow

      Mercedes Benz India will launch GLA Class tomorrow in India followed by its AMG variant that is set to go on sale in the month of October. The SUV will be rolled out in both petrol and diesel engine options. Possessing boastful dimensions the SUV measures 4417mm long, 1804mm wide, 1494mm tall, has a wheelbase of 2699mm and will offer 183mm of ground clearance. The vehicle is likely to get 18 inch alloy wheels, panoramic sliding sunroof and twin-pipe exhaust system. Cabin is likely to come equipped with ARTICO upholstery, ambient lighting and rear seat entertainment package. Mercedes Benz is expected stuff the vehicle with prominent safety features such as seven airbags, Anti Clip Regulation, Anti Lock Braking System, BAS, ESP, Curve Dynamic Assist and Hill Start Assist.

      Powering the petrol range will be a 1.8 litre turbocharged, four cylinder engine capable of developing a top power output of 181 Bhp at 5500 RPM along with peak torque of 300 Nm between 1200 to 4000 RPM. Diesel variants on the other hand will house a 2.2 litre, four cylinder diesel powertrain that can generate pinnacle power output of 135 Bhp at 3400 RPM and 300 Nm of top torque between 1400 to 3000 RPM. Both the petrol and diesel engines are expected to be coupled to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

      Slated to go on sales next month, GLA’s AMG variant will employ a 2.0 litre, turbocharged petrol engine good for a maximum power of 360 PS along with 450 Nm. The AMG variant will come equipped with an AMG SpeedShift DCT 7-Speed sports transmission.

      The new GLA Class range is expected to be priced between Rs 27 lakh to Rs 32 lakh. In its segment, the vehicle will compete with rivals like Audi Q3 and BMW X1.
