Mercedes Benz India is to set to roll out AMG variant of GL SUV in India on April 15th, 2014. Prior to this, the company had also launched three AMG variants including, G63, E63 and SLK 55 in 2013.
Mercedes Benz GL63 AMG will be equipped with a twin-turbocharged 5.5 litre V8 powertrain that enables the SUV to propel from 0 to 100 kmph within 4.9 seconds and acquires a top speed of 250 Kmph. The usual trim of GL is devoid of the mighty 5.5 litre motor that pumps out a pinnacle power of 557 Bhp along with a maximum torque output of 760 Nm. The 5.5 litre V8 engine comes fitted with a high-tech power package that consists of spray-guided direct petrol injection, biturbo charging, all-aluminium crankcase, piezo injectors, air/water intercooling, alternator management and the ECO start/stop system.
The new GL63 AMG is said to don additional features like 21-inch alloy wheels, chromed AMG quad-tailpipes and AMG badges on the outside which are absent in the GL version. Sporty seats will be affixed inside the cabin, besides this few other additional features including the AMG steering wheel and Active Curve Control (Offered are standard) will also be embedded in the GL63 AMG variant.
Mercedes Benz has a slew of popular cars in its India stable including the popular S-Class. Owing to the growing popularity of the luxury saloon in India, the car maker started local assembling of the saloon at its Chakan plant located in Pune. Since Mercedes is assembling S –Class in India, the price of the luxury saloon has also be sliced to Rs 1.38 crore as against the previous 1.62 crore (ex-showroom Delhi). 2013 has been a magnificent year for the company as Mercedes witnessed 32.5 per cent growth in sales and the company yearns to continue its sales momentum in 2014 also.
